Club Rides

Everyone is welcome to ride with the El Paso Bicycle Club, you do not need to be a member to join us. The Club sponsors several rides during the week and just about every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. A complete list of all the club sponsored rides can be found on our MeetUp calendar.

Wednesday Night Ride

Daylight Savings Time is when the exciting season of El Paso’s famous Wednesday Night Bike Ride (WNBR) starts. Every year from spring to fall, cyclists from all over the area, and representing different groups descend on the upper valley roads for a fast paced late afternoon ride. The start time changes throughout the season to maximize riding in bright daylight. Check our calendar for current start times.

El Paso Bicycle Club members roll out together and warm up for a few miles as they make their way out towards the WNBR “Club Loop.” The Club Loop is a 20 mile flat ride that takes one out from the bustling city out onto rural agricultural roads. This ride is classified as “Leaderless” meaning that the group is out on its own with out a designated ride leader to dictate the pace. Traditionally the WNBR is fast paced, with riders trying to hold the fastest pace for the longest time possible. True camaraderie manifests as the dropped cyclists regroup and ride in as a groupetto.

Thursday Morning Cruise

The Thursday morning cruise starts from the Starbucks at the Outlet Mall and is a no-drop casual paced (14-16 mph) year-round ride suitable for all cycling aficionados. Road bikes, touring bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, recumbent bikes, folding bikes, and e-bikes, have all joined in on the Thursday morning action. Some club members claim that this ride is an excellent recovery ride for the WNBR. Although the Thursday morning route varies, it is always exciting and never boring. Please check the club calendar the night before for the current start time as it may change throughout the season to maximize daylight and weather conditions.

Saturday Road Ride

The Saturday Road Ride breaks into two groups to accomodate riders with different abilities.
The Group A ride will be around 30 miles at a 14-16 mph pace, depending on the abilities and preference of participants. This is a good ride if you’re getting back in shape for the season or just want to take it a little easier.
The Group B ride will be 30+ miles at a much faster pace, depending on the abilities and preference of participants.

These rides focus on conditioning riders and preparing them for organized rides such as the regional favorite Chile Pepper Challenge. Please check the club calendar the night before for the current start time as it may change throughout the season to maximize daylight and weather conditions.

BikeSchool

BikeSchool offers beginner level bike rides. If you want to learn to ride in a group on the road and trails, this is the ride for you. If you have been off the bike for awhile these rides can help get you rolling again!
Dust off your bikes and join us on Sundays for these rides.
We willl have a curriculum of great lessons and also help prepare you for our Chile Pepper Challenge in September!
Please check the club calendar the night before for the current start time as it may change throughout the season to maximize daylight and weather conditions.

DARTY Ride

Ready for a short 25 mile Sunday ride up the valley? Then join us for the DARTY – Daytime Party ride. We will ride at a 16-18 mph pace up to Anthony Country Club. The ride pace maybe subject to momentary increases due to winds, or to chase passing riders, or just for the heck of it! Stay and enjoy a beverage with the group at the end of the ride (BYO).  Please check the club calendar the night before for the current start time as it may change throughout the season to maximize daylight and weather conditions.

Other Rides

We encourage you to check our calendar for the various other rides you may like to join us on. Please check the club calendar the night before a ride for possible updates.
